1 kickoff the kick from center field that starts the game or resumes it after a team scores

13 down a complete play in which players attempt to advance the ball
14 1st and 10 a normal first down when the players have 10 yards to go
15 1st and goal a first down less than 10 yards from the end zone
16 pass to throw the ball to another player
17 tackle to knock down the player carrying the ball
18 sack to tackle the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage, causing a loss of yardage
19 safety to tackle a player with the ball in his own end zone, scoring 2 points for the tackling team
20 punt to kick the ball downfield to the opposing team
21 fumble to drop the ball
22 interception when a player catches a ball thrown by the opposing team
23 huddle when the players stand in a group to plan a play
24 quarter one fourth of a game, usually 15 minutes of play
25 halftime an intermission between the 2nd and 3rd quarters of a game
26 NFL National Football League
27 Super Bowl the championship game for the NFL
