Ever hear that the Inuit have forty words for snow? Or a hundred? Or a thousand? That's the Great Eskimo Vocabulary Hoax. It's a myth that stems from when linguist Franz Boas mentioned that the Inuit have four words from separate roots for different kinds of snow. These are those words.
